Our boys just can't stop winning... and long may it continue.
Following Jeev Milkha Singh's win in Japan which confirmed him as one of the world's best players in 2008, Richard Sterne came through for a dream win in his native South Africa. Sterne said at the beginning of the week that Leopard Creek was his favourite place on earth and the area seemed to repay him for the compliment.
While others fell away or failed to cope with the demands of a course as tough as some of the wildlife that patrols its borders, Sterne hung around to post the score that nobody could match. Sterne was the only player to post for sub-70 rounds, a wonderful achievement in itself, while ISM had no fewer than eight players in the top 30.
Chris Wood should have been delighted with his professional debut in South Africa. A tied 16th place alongside Lee Westwood was a highly creditable return and I can see Chris going on to surprise many people this year.
Now I'm off to one of my favourite places in the world for this week's SA Open just outside Cape Town. We have a very strong representation at the event headed by Ernie Els although I'm sure James Kingston will be desperate to hang on to the title he won so impressively a year ago.
