It was a great weekend for the young guns in our stable reinforcing my belief in just how bright the future is.

From James Kamte's win in South Africa to Stephen Tiley's continued progress in Asia, we had plenty to toast and take encouragement from.

James added his name to those of Ernie Els, Retief Goosen and David frost as a winner of South Africa's Metmar Highveld Classic for his third professional title while Steven continued to prosper in the Far East.

In Portugal, there was plenty to be proud of as James Kingston's top 10 finish elevated him into the all-important top 15 in the European Order of Merit.  Chris Wood showed just how quickly he is adapting to life in the paid ranks by also finishing in the top 10 and guaranteeing him a start in Valencia this week where he can continue to further his career.

Simon Dyson was another high flyer, giving himself a chance of qualifying for the season-ending Volvo Masters where we will have a very strong band of qualifiers while Dave Horsey moved back to the top of the Challenge Tour rankings with just one event to go.

Last, but by no means least, a special word for Rory McIlroy, who continues to excite all those who watch him swing the club.  Last winter I gave him a couple of goals - top 100 in the world and Volvo Masters qualification - and he has achieved them both.  Much, much more will be heard of him and I'm sure he won't be far away from the top 50 come the end of the year.
